Sagmal is a macOS app for dictation, fixing selected text, and translation. This policy describes what leaves your Mac, where it goes, and what we keep.
On your Mac
History (recordings and transcripts), the scratchpad, key terms, instructions, and settings are stored only on your Mac. A request carries the parts a feature needs, as described below.
Speech
With ElevenLabs (the default) or Deepgram, audio streams from your Mac directly to that provider over an encrypted connection, authorized by a short-lived token from our server. When a stream can’t finish, or you retry a recording, the recording is uploaded through our server, which forwards it to the provider and keeps nothing. Your key terms are sent along to improve recognition.
With Apple’s on-device engine, audio never leaves your Mac.
AI features
AI cleanup of transcripts, Fix Selected Text, and Translate send their input to OpenRouter, which passes it to a provider hosting the model in use. The input is the transcript, the selected text, or the screen area you capture for Translate, with your instructions and, for cleanup, your key terms. Our server passes it through in memory and keeps nothing.
These providers handle your content under their own privacy policies and may retain it as their terms allow. We do not control their retention.
What we keep
- Account data (email, name) via Clerk, which handles sign-in.
- Usage metadata for each request (feature, model, status, size, audio duration, word and token counts, and cost) for plan limits, billing, and abuse prevention.
- Payment data via Stripe. We do not store card numbers.
We do not keep your audio, transcripts, text, or screenshots. Server logs record timing and errors, not content. The website uses only the cookies sign-in needs.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account on your account page. This cancels any subscription immediately and removes your email and name from our records. Usage metadata is kept without them for billing and abuse prevention, and Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires.
